Cocktail recipes to keep you warm this winter
The Christmas period can get stressful – all those presents to buy and food to cook – and that’s why it’s extra important you give yourself a break and do something good for your palate.
Our friends from ShakeNight are total taste experts – they know exactly how to make a Christmassy-cocktail that’ll invigorate your body and soul. Here are a few of their favourites:
Lillet Noel
This is a very special winter cocktail full of ripe cherries aromas, hints of herbal and a delightful bitterness.
You need:
5cl Lillet Blanc
5cl cherry nectar
10cl Tonic Water
rosemary
Preparation: Pour all ingredients into a glass, stir carefully and garnish.
Tip: Make any cocktail Christmas-ready by decorating with a candy cane, roasted marshmallow or cotton candy.
Orange angel
This drink is characterized by intense citrus aromas that don’t just taste excellent but are good for your heart and immune system. The flavonoids contained in the oranges, especially Hesperidin, protect us against heart diseases associated with high blood pressure.
You need:
1 cl grenadine syrup
2 cl Amaretto
2 cl Tequila white
20 cl orange juice
1 pinch of cinnamon
Preparation: Put all ingredients with large ice cubes into a shaker and shake vigorously until foamy.
Tip: You can decorate this drink with fresh or dried orange slices and sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder to make it even tastier.
Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini
This is a twist on an absolute classic – not only does it wake us up but it tastes delicious! You’ll love this variation of an espresso martini if you enjoy Pumpkin Spiced Lattes.
You need:
2,5cl 1776 James Pepper Bourbon
2,5cl Crème de Cacao
25ml Espresso
10ml pumpkin syrup
Preparation: Just like with the Orange Angel, put all ingredients along with large ice cubes into a shaker and mix vigorously until foamy.
Tip: Decorate this wonderful creation with coffee beans and cinnamon.
And if you’re not in the mood for cold drinks, why not prepare delicious mulled wine for friends and family? Here, too, you can let your imagination run wild and use all the berries and fruits you like.
Follow this simple mulled wine recipe:
1 bottle of good red wine (preferably dry)
300ml orange juice
2 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
4 star anise
2 tbsp cane sugar
2 tbsp honey
Slowly heat up the ingredients, taking care the mulled wine doesn’t boil and burn.
